Hey y’all,
Welcome to your Cycles of Time forecast for the week of February 10-15, 2025. This week, in addition to your weekly forecast, I had the great pleasure of chatting with astrologer, musician, and craftswoman Rose Blakelock as my Aquarius season guest. It was really wonderful to connect after being a big fan of her gorgeous writing, music and horoscopes for a good while now!
Click above to listen to the episode on Substack, or tune in anywhere you listen to podcasts. After the normal forecast for the week, my conversation with Rose begins at timestamp 31:52.
Rose is a multi-passionate and multi-talented human, which gives some insight into her business alias Mutable Cross. She is a musician, humanistic astrologer, eco-poetic writer and craftswoman. She is currently recording and performing under the moniker Night of Cups, producing the pop culture and astrology podcasts Big Dyke Energy and Mutable Reception, and giving one-on-one and couples chart readings.

I discovered Rose’s work a couple years ago through her podcasts Mutable Reception and Big Dyke Energy. These days, I eagerly await her essays and monthly horoscopes which she posts her Substack, Mutable Musings. Rose has an incredible way with words that showcase a deep and beautifully aware relationship with the animals, plants, and environment of Northern New Mexico, where she calls home.
I love the way Rose describes her practice of astrology: “Astrology is a way of listening deeply. A powerful symbolic language that helps us investigate and explore our interiority and attune to the natural rhythms and cycles unfolding around us. My hope is to help you listen more deeply to the quiet knowledge you contain, to grasp towards purpose and find compassion, grace, and patience as life unfolds around you.”
Rose’s birthday is this Sunday, February 16th, so she is an Aquarius sun born in the Human Design Gate of Passion, a gate known as “Clinging Fire” in the I’Ching. Tune into our conversation for insights on the life of a systems-oriented water bearer who truly embodies the deep passion of this fiery gate! You can find more about Rose’s work and book sessions with her at roseblakelock.com. Thanks so much for coming on the show, Rose <3.

Wednesday: A full snow moon in Leo
The Full Snow Moon in Leo on February 12, 2025, brings a burst of creativity, self-expression, and bold energy. As the Moon reaches its peak, it illuminates our desire for recognition, joy, and passionate pursuits. This is a time to step into the spotlight, celebrate individuality, and express your heart’s desires with confidence. With the Moon in Leo, we’re encouraged to embrace our creativity and take pride in our unique talents. The Full Moon forms supportive aspects with Jupiter and Mercury, amplifying communication, growth, and opportunities for expansion. This is a powerful time for setting intentions that align with your authentic self, embracing new creative projects, and sharing your gifts with the world
This full moon is in the Human Design Gate of Formulization, aka Youthful Folly (4), which is opposite the sun in the Gate of Revolution (49). Planetary placements in opposing gates create a polarity, highlighting the dynamic interplay between two contrasting energies. With the Moon in Gate 4, the Gate of Formulization, and the Sun in Gate 49, the Gate of Revolution, this polarity creates a tension between logic and emotional transformation, seeking certainty versus embracing radical change.

The Moon governs our emotions, subconscious patterns, and inner needs. When positioned in Gate 4, the Gate of Formulization, there is an emotional attachment to finding answers, seeking logical solutions, and making sense of life through mental frameworks. This gate, part of the Ajna Center, wants to categorize experiences and create structured reasoning, often in response to uncertainty. It represents the mind’s quest to solve problems and create order, yet it operates best when it accepts that not all answers come immediately or in a fixed form. The shadow side of this placement can lead to overthinking, mental rigidity, or an excessive need for logical validation before taking action.
On the other hand, the Sun represents the core essence of self-expression and life force energy. In Gate 49, the Gate of Revolution, the focus is on emotional clarity, radical transformation, and the restructuring of relationships and systems based on evolving values. Unlike Gate 4, which seeks mental certainty, Gate 49 demands emotional certainty before initiating change. It challenges old paradigms, breaking away from anything that no longer aligns with core principles, particularly in relationships, societal structures, and tribal agreements. The highest potential of Gate 49 is not impulsive rebellion but a conscious revolution that emerges from deep emotional awareness.
This polarity asks for integration between mental reasoning and emotional truth. The Moon in Gate 4 may resist change by searching for logical answers and certainty, while the Sun in Gate 49 calls for transformation based on emotional conviction, even when logic cannot fully explain it. The challenge is to recognize when to trust the mind’s insights and when to surrender to the wisdom of emotional cycles.
Unbalanced Expression: Getting stuck in overanalyzing revolution (Moon in Gate 4) instead of feeling when change is necessary (Sun in Gate 49).
Harmonized Expression: Using intellectual discernment (Gate 4) to clarify the vision for transformation while trusting emotional timing (Gate 49) to initiate meaningful change.
Lesson: Not all change can be rationalized. Some shifts require emotional certainty rather than mental validation, while others benefit from a thoughtful, structured approach.
By embracing both energies, one can move beyond reactive rebellion or mental paralysis into a state of aligned, conscious transformation—where the mind serves as a tool for wisdom rather than a barrier to revolution.
Valentines Day (appropriately) falls in the Gate of Passion
In Human Design, the gate that wraps up Aquarius season before we enter Pisces is Gate 30, the Gate of Passion or Feelings, where the sun will bee transiting from this Thursday through next Tuesday. It is located in the Solar Plexus Center and holds the emotional fire of desire, longing, and deep yearning for experiences that bring meaning. Gate 30 teaches that while desires are powerful, they are also fleeting, and learning to surrender to the emotional waves of expectation and disappointment is key to personal growth. Those with this gate defined may experience an intensity of emotions and dreams, requiring them to navigate the highs and lows of wanting something deeply yet understanding that not all desires will manifest as expected.
Gene Key 30: Desire > Lightness> Rapture
The 30th Gene Key moves through the spectrum of desire, from the shadow of desire to the gift of lightness and the siddhi of rapture. At the shadow level, unfulfilled longing can lead to suffering, as the mind attaches to outcomes and struggles with impermanence. The gift of lightness emerges when one embraces desire without being consumed by it, allowing emotions to be experienced without resistance. At the siddhic level, this energy transforms into rapture, a deep surrender to the divine flow of life where passion is no longer bound to external fulfillment but becomes a state of transcendence and bliss. The key to this journey is realizing that desire itself is not the problem—it is the attachment to specific outcomes that creates suffering.
I Ching Hexagram 30: Clinging Fire
Gate 30 corresponds to Hexagram 30, known as "Li" or "Clinging Fire." This hexagram represents the nature of fire, which burns brightly but cannot sustain itself indefinitely. It signifies both the intensity and transience of life’s experiences, emphasizing the importance of awareness and adaptability.
Fire must attach to something to continue burning, just as human desires attach to dreams and emotions. However, true wisdom comes from understanding that nothing lasts forever. By recognizing the impermanence of all things, one can fully embrace life’s experiences without being controlled by them.
Hexagram 30 offers profound insights on illuminating one's path with clarity and persistence. It is seen as a source of warmth and guidance, urging individuals to shine brightly, inspire others, and dispel shadows with their inner radiance.
Valentine’s Day and Gate 30
Valentine’s Day reflects the energy of Gate 30 by amplifying the themes of passion, desire, and emotional intensity. Just as this gate teaches the lessons of longing and impermanence, Valentine’s Day can bring both the joy of love fulfilled and the heartache of expectations unmet.
The essence of Gate 30 reminds us that love, like fire, must be nurtured but also allowed to flow naturally. Whether single or in a relationship, the true celebration of love comes from embracing emotions fully, without attachment to a specific outcome. Valentine’s Day, much like Gate 30, teaches us to appreciate passion for what it is—an intense but fleeting energy that enriches our experience of life.
